I am planning to have my own solo backpacking trips maybe next year but of course it is really depends on my time and budgets. I envied those travelers who can travel with less expenses, I am impressed and proud of them. So, before travelling I need to know the backpacking tips. While browsing in the net to get some tips from expert traveler and learning of their own backpacking tips. This is a part of preparation for my solo backpacking trip. I want everything organize!
So, here are the tips:
KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING: Research on the area where you are planning to visit. Know what you are getting into and what to expect.
WHAT KIND OF CHALLENGES MIGHT YOU FACE? Before you start your trip, you have to be aware of the obstacles. Like, if planning to go Mountain Climbing, you have to think all the possibilities happens so that you are prepared.
WHAT TO PACK? The basic of backpacking you need to considered, especially in hiking, are: backpack, tent/tarp, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove & cooking utensils, clothing, hiking shoes, food, and water purifier.
CHECK YOUR GEAR: Be sure to complete all your gear before starting a trip. Always check if everything is working fine.
FIRST AID AND EMERGENCY KIT: Be sure to bring first aid and emergency kit when you travel. But it is depends on the level of risk you’re comfortable with. Just bring small, plastic, waterproof container that holds a few storm-proof matches and some fire starter.
BACKPACKING FOOD: Take lots of high calorie food with you. Proper nutrition is one of the most important. You have to aim for about 2 to 2.5 pounds of food per day. Common mistake of some traveler is to take too much food and then not eat enough of it.
WHAT TO WEAR: It is important what to wear during your trip, if you’re in hiking it is not advisable to bring a cotton shirt. Bring hiking pants and/or shorts, hiking shirt, hat and gloves, long underwear, rain gear and insulating layer (fleece or down jacket).
These are the basic backpacking tips that I need to learn so I’ll be prepared on my own solo backpacking trip. Excited!
