Baguio City is located at the northern part of
Luzon and it is a very much urbanized city. It was established by Americans in 1900 at the site of an Ibaloi village, also known as Kafagway. It is also known as the Summer Capital of the
Philippines.
Some of the tourist attractions in Baguio City:
Mines View Park is a great park and popular tourist attraction in the city where tourists can also shop for souvenir items, explore and view the scenery. Mines View Park is an abandoned mine where used by early Ibaloi/Igorot people, now, viewed from the said tourist spot.
Philippine Military Academy is a training school for people who wanted to be a future officer of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines). It was established on December 21, 1936, inside the PMA where can see all the heavy equipments that used during the war.
The Mansion is the mansion house of the President of the Philippines; it is the official summer residence of the President. The majestic Mansion was built in 1908.
Camp John Hay is the hill station used for the recreation for the personnel and dependents of the US Armed Forces in the Philippine and the Department of Defense employees as well.
Wright Park is a pine tree park for horse rides and a long stairway leads to the “Pool of the Pines”, a 100 meter long pool of water line in both sides by the famous Baguio towering pine. Sometimes, it was mistakenly called “Ride Park” by some tourists.
Burnham Park is an urban park named after the American architect and urban planner, Daniel Hudson Burnham. He laid the plans for the city. The park has man-made lake located in the center where tourist can rent a boat and enjoy boating. It features skating rink at the southern part of the park. The Melvin Jones Grand Stand and football field at the eastern part. At the western part, Children’s Park and the Orchidarium are located.
Botanical Garden features native huts typical of the Cordillera architecture, a site of cultural presentations, and special tribal meetings. Also, it is also called the Igorot Village.
Other tourist attractions are strawberry farm, lion’s head and a lot more.
