Postal Heritage Walking Tour

Post Office Building
Postal Heritage Walking Tour is a free tour held by Mr. Lawrence Chan, the tour guide, on every 3rd Sunday of the month. A friend of mine invited me to join the tour; it was my privilege to learn the history of the building and the place around the area. The tour is open not only for the stamp collectors but to all that have interest to know about the history. It was an educational tour, indeed!

However, our guide Mr. Lawrence discussed about the popular plaza known as Plaza Lawton, it was named by Henry W. Lawton who served under Gen. Edwell Otis. Plaza Lawton was changed and now known as Liwasang Bonifacio, to honored Andres Bonifacio and it is now known also for rallies and public expression of freedom.
Mr. Lawrence talked about the history of the place and the people
About the Post Office Building, the Postal Museum and Library was located within the post office compound, it was opened to the public in 1992 as Museum and Library to let somebody to see the country’s storage are of stamps and postal relics. The Postal Museum and Library was located on the 3rd floor.

About the Metropolitan Theater, it was built in 1931, designed by Juan M. De Guzman Arellano, a Filipino architect, who also designed the Manila Central Office and the Jones Bridge.
