Q and A with Pinoy Travel Freak
1. What is your purpose of traveling?
Traveling, together with photography, is actually my passion. I love exploring new places and experiencing the diverse culture of the Philippines. Eventually, it became my advocacy to promote Philippine tourism and inspire other people to travel as well.
2. Do you travel solo? Or in a group?
Most of the time, I travel on my own. I love the freedom, and the thrill of being able to do anything whenever I want is awesome. I get to travel with groups only when climbing a mountain or traveling for an outreach activity.
3. How often do you travel?
Once a month.
4. What would be the best destinations for a solo traveler, for a couple, for a group or with family and friends?
I think El Nido, Palawan. It’s my top favorite beach destination.
5. Give at least 5 travel tips to our readers.
a) If you want to travel on a budget, make sure to prepare before your trip by researching for information online and reading travel blogs.
b) Even with the itinerary in mind, be flexible about the unexpected changes during your trip and be spontaneous.
c) When dealing with local tour guides/drivers, you can try to haggle but don’t overdo it.
d) Once in a while, get out of your comfort zone and experience staying in homestays to immerse yourself with the locals and the local culture.
e) Be a responsible tourist. Respect local laws, dispose of your garbage properly and observe the Leave No Trace principle.
6. What are your 3 memorable travel destinations and why? (please do share your best photos)
a) El Nido, Palawan simply because it’s a piece of paradise. The beaches and islands are world-class. I fell in love the first time I went there.
b) Bohol because it’s my first major local travel and that’s where my travel bug started.
c) Japan because I was able to check off my bucket list to experience the cherry blossom season, and it’s my first international travel.
Virgin Island, Panglao, Bohol |
7. Who is your ideal traveler? Why?
Drew Arellano because he gets to enjoy his job and travel at the same time.
